Buku Khamis

Buku Khamis is a professional athlete currently playing in the AFL for the Western Bulldogs. Born in South Sudan and raised in Australia after migrating with his family in 2006, Buku first discovered Australian rules football in 2012 after attending a game at the MCG. That moment sparked his journey into the sport, eventually leading him to become the Club’s first Next Generation Academy recruit and a pre-selected rookie in 2018.

Outside of football, Buku is passionate about trying new experiences, connecting with close friends, and bringing joy to those around him through his easygoing nature. He is also a proud participant of the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation’s Ready SETTLE Go program, reflecting his deep appreciation for community and cultural connection. Known for his resilience and determination, Buku brings the same drive to life off the field as he does on it.
